Canterbury Music is located in Canterbury, Victoria. We are a team of professional music teachers that are passionate in helping you improve your musical ability. Our teachers are friendly, patient and expertly trained to teach students of all ages at all levels. We will help you achieve your musical goals in a welcoming teaching environment.

Individual one-on-one class
One only needs to google "benefits of a music education" to find endless websites talking about how important it is to provide a child with this opportunity in their education.
We teach children as young as 3 years old to play the piano and prepare them for formal exams through the examination board of your choice. Our teachers have had many years of teaching experience and many of our students have achieved outstanding results.
There is no single method for all students, so our teachers will use a method that best suits the student.
Come in for a free 15 minute consultation with our principal teacher to discuss what your objectives and requirements are before commencing your musical education with us.
Fees are paid by the term.
We run group classes at different times throughout the year. Please contact us for more information.
Individual catch up classes available over the school holidays
We believe that it is important for serious students to occasionally learn from other teachers to gain a different perspective of music. It will teach the student different interpretations, advice on technique, knowledge about a piece's context and moulds the student into a better musician.
One-off masterclasses are available with our principal teacher.
We also regularly invite guest musicians both locally and on an international level to provide masterclasses for our students. We believe that opportunities like these are essential for our students to learn from pianists who are at the top of their game.
Accompaniment services are also available. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Have you always wanted to learn the piano? Our principal teacher has developed her own tried and tested method that will have adults playing within months.
We can cater for those who wish to play for fun and leisure or for more the more serious students who wish to sit for exams.
Morning classes outside our opening hours are available.

Our Principal Teacher, Fabiola is a talented pianist who has been teaching privately for 15 years. She is extremely passionate about music and especially enjoys working with children.
Fabiola commenced her piano study at the age of 4 and has been taught by a few notable piano teachers such as Prof Max Cooke, Dr Julie Haskell and Timothy Young. She holds Dip ABRSM, LMusA and AMusA in Solo Piano and has won numerous piano competition internationally. In addition, she is also a trained Yamaha and Suzuki teacher.
Fabiola also runs another successful piano studio in Point Cook.

Kathy graduated from Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and the VCA majoring in music performance (BMus Degree with Honours) with Dr. Anna Goldsworthy and Ronald Farren Price.
She was awarded The Frances Quinn Arts Encouragement Award and Doris Chandler Bursaries during her studies at the MCM and the VCA.
She loves working with children and teaching them to play piano as a way to appreciate and enjoy music!

Isaac is a distinguished musician with a myriad of talents. As a highly skilled pianist, electone player, cellist, and singer, he has garnered multiple awards and scholarships throughout his career. Holding a music performance diploma (ATCL) with distinction from Trinity College London, Isaac's dedication to his craft is evident in his achievements.
A three-time national champion in classical singing and piano, Isaac has represented Malaysia in the prestigious Osaka International Music Competition as a pianist. His experience as an orchestral musician includes notable positions in the Queensland Youth Orchestra and Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Young Conservatorium, where he served as Associate Principal Cellist. In addition, his proficiency in jazz as a pianist at the Queensland Conservatorium showcases his versatility across genres.
Beyond classical singing, Isaac delves into pop and RnB, demonstrating his wide-ranging vocal abilities. With experience as an accompanist for orchestras and soloists, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to his musical endeavors.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music at the esteemed University of Melbourne, Isaac aims to infuse his passion for music into his lessons. His goal is to inspire students in their own musical aspirations, emphasizing the commitment and effort required to excel in the realm of music. Isaac's journey as a musician exemplifies dedication and diligence, qualities he hopes to instill in future generations of musicians.

Jerry is a graduate of Bachelor of Music (major in teaching) in Melbourne University. He has been a teacher for many years focusing on classical and contemporary piano. With over a decade of experience, he has worked as a composer and director for university musicals and performed in pop and jazz bands around melbourne. He loves improvising and creative music making.
A Competent Sight-reader in classical and Jazz/pop Lead sheets. Accompaniment experiences with voice and string instruments etc.
His teachings are very thorough and observant. The main focus of students is the 4 foundations/fundamentals: reading/comprehension, rhythm, technique and listening. He believes a solid foundation allows student confidence and enjoyment, therefore fostering self-awareness and critical thinking.
Michelle began learning piano at the age of six and has since developed a deep passion for both performance and music education. She achieved a Distinction in the ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Performance exam and passed ABRSM Music Theory Grade 7. She has also won several piano and music competitions across Asia and Australia.
Michelle is currently studying for a Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, The University of Melbourne, majoring in Piano Performance. Alongside her studies, she is preparing for the ARSM diploma exam.
She is committed to making piano lessons fun and engaging, especially for younger learners. Michelle is passionate about helping each student reach their full musical potential and tailors her teaching style to meet individual needs. Several of her students have achieved Distinctions in piano exams and received awards in competitions.
Known for her patient and encouraging approach, Michelle enjoys working with students of all ages, helping them build confidence and enjoy learning music.

Started learning the piano at 4, Natalie’s passion for music has grown stronger over the years. Her dedication brought her to complete ATCL and DipABRSM in piano performance, and she is currently working towards LTCL. Natalie also won several international piano competitions.
She believes that music has this magical ability to bring people together in a unique way. She strives to create a supportive and engaging space for students to improve their piano skills.
She is keen to see students feel more inspired and empowered as young musicians. Whether you’re a beginner just starting your musical journey or have played the piano before, Natalie is here to guide you every step of the way!
I began studying piano at the age of 5 and have since loved and pursued the field of classical piano. Moving to Australia in early 2018, I began studying piano with Hilda Visser-Scott at the Wesley Music Centre and participated in masterclasses at the ANU School of Music with Dr. Edward Newman. I have performed solo programs at Wesley Music Centre and Larry Sitsky Recital Hall at the ANU School of Music. I have participated in the Australian National Piano Eisteddfod piano competitions and have won several prizes in a variety of categories. I am grateful to be pursuing this dedication professionally and to be sharing my musical passion with students.
I’m currently studying Psychology under Bachelor's of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, and participate in a variety of music clubs and events, such as playing in a student band and performing gigs at the University.
Canterbury Music has three piano practice rooms for hire from just $30.00 at our Canterbury Rd location. These rooms have high quality pianos, two featuring a Yamaha Grand Piano and the other featuring a Yamaha Upright piano.

Our school is located at 183 Canterbury Road, Canterbury. There is ample free street parking outside the school and a car park behind the school on Delany Close. Entrance into Delany Close can be accessed from Balwyn or Rochester Roads.
You will be led through the basics of improvisation in a small group and be given the opportunity to try out your new skills. You will be able to play spontaneously!
